Fixing & Installation: Safeguard (Polycarbonate) Machine Safety Guards.

FASTENING OF SAFEGUARD (POLYCARBONATE) WITH BOLTS

• Bolt Diameter: 5-12mm.
• Bolt Holes: 2-4mm larger than bolt to allow for thermal expansion/contraction.
• Hole Position: Distance (L) from edge of sheet to center of bolt hole should be 2.5 times (or more) the hole diameter.

GUIDELINES FOR INSTALLATION OF SAFEGUARD (POLYCARBONATE)

• Prior large edge engagement in supporting frame.
• Allow clearance in frame for thermal expansion.
• Select appropriate material thickness for application & span to minimise deflection.

CUTTING AND FIXING OF SAFEGUARD (POLYCARBONATE)

• Cutting: Use circular saw, band saw or jig saw.
• Leave protective film on while cutting.
• Use large washers or flat bar to spread the load.
• Do NOT overtighten bolts.

MAINTENANCE OF SAFEGUARD (POLYCARBONATE)

• Leave protective film on during installation.
• Painting of frame should be done prior to fitting Safeguard, to avoid chemical attack.
• For outdoor installations, remove protective film within a week of installation, as it is affected by sunlight, & can be difficult to remove if left longer.
• Remove paint, grease or sealing materials immediately with a soft cloth wetted with ethanol or isopropanol.
• Clean with soft cloth or sponge with warm water & neutral detergent, then rinse with clean water.
