Marine

If you are building, designing or maintaining a boat or Ship, our range of marine grade sheet products will accommodate any outdoor marine application that requires a high quality UV Polymer marine product.

If you are looking for a particular part for your marine project, our machine shops are fully equipped to both design and machine to your specific requirements. We have 4 specific products available that are well suited for the marine environment;

  • Boatboard - Boatboard is a special grade HDPE for use in marine environment. High density polyethylene with a special textured surface on both sides and excellent UV resistance.
  • Uniboard - Uniboard HDPE marine ply replacement materials are low weight, very low moisture absorption, high mechanical strength, chemical resistance.
  • PVC Foam - is chemically foamed, rigid, light weight extruded sheet with fine & homogenous closed cell structure having a smooth matt surface finish on both sides.
  • Leisure Board - Leisureboard is a modified PE especially developed for applications in shapes and forms for the manufacture of innovative, colourful accessories and equipment for leisure and play related facilities.
  • Playboard - Playboard is a co-extruded polyethylene especially developed for applications where both simple and complex shapes with vibrant colours are required.

Each of these products is UV resistant and able to withstand the harsh Australian Environment. Our marine grade products are made from the highest quality polymers and have been manufactured in the US. Don't take the chance with inferior Asian imported plastic that may buckle and fade over time; your boat is worth more than that!

Boatboard UV-HDPE

Boatboard is a special grade HDPE for use in marine environments. A High density polyethylene with a special textured surface on both sides and excellent UV resistance.

Recognised for superior flatness and low inherent stress, Boatboard sets the standard for fabrication ease among weather resistant polymer sheet products for outdoor applications. Proven uses include marine components, outdoor cabinetry and other structures.

Available in standard and custom marine colours, this highly UV resistant material has a durable matte finish that cleans easily and looks great long term.

Uniboard UV-HDPE

Uniboard is a lightweight marine building system made from an enhanced polymer material to replace ply, plywood, MDF and craft wood. Uniboard solid skin provides added rigidity and strength while the foamed core reduces the weight of the material by up to 30% when compared with other water soaked solid materials.

With this closed cell structure, Uniboard prohibits any water absorption allowing for use in any environment indoor or outdoor.

This UV stabilised product is ideal for any on-board, indoor or outdoor marine cabinetry applications.

Key benefits of Nuvex® Uniboard:

  • Excellent screw retention
  • Machinability equal to plywood
  • UV resistant
  • Flexibility
  • Solid colour throughout, no painting required
  • Less ongoing maintenance required
  • Lightweight
  • Water resistant
  • Rot resistant
  • Weatherproof
  • Rust resistant
  • Salt water resistant

Advantages of NUVEX® UNIBOARD:

Uniboard marine ply replacement materials are low weight, very low moisture absorption, has a high mechanical strength, chemical resistance and machinability that allows this product to be used across a wide range of timber replacement applications including acoustic sheeting.

PVC Integral Foam

Key benefits of PVC Integral Foam:

  • Easy to fabricate using standard woodworking tools
  • Environmentally stabilized plastic will not rot, swell, splinter or delaminate
  • Easy to clean and never needs refinishing
  • Impervious to water
  • Holds staples and paint well
  • Looks great when polyurethane coated
  • Light in weight
  • Fabricates using conventional woodworking materials
  • Excellent screw retention
  • Salt water resistant
  • UV resistant

Applications:

  • Upholstery substrates
  • On board Cabinetry
  • Wall panels

PVC INTEGRAL FOAM sheets are extruded sheets of PVC with a foaming agent added to slightly expand the material, reduce the density of the sheet, and give it an expanded core. This sheet is a solid homogenous extruded sheet with smooth surfaces, but if you look at the end grain of the material you will see a slightly cellular edge. The purpose of the foaming is to reduce the actual amount of plastic in the sheet. This reduces the cost of the sheet while also reducing the weight. It is impervious to water and holds staples and paint well. This makes it a very cost effective material for upholstery substrates. PVC can also be easily heat formed and glued with PVC cements and fabricated using standard woodworking materials.

The edges of expanded PVC sheet can collect dirt and be somewhat difficult to keep clean so if this is an issue for your application then you may want to consider using our Boatboard product.
