Plastic Extrusion

A most economical way to produce volume profiles at any specified length is with plastic extrusion. Extrusion tooling is quite cheap when compared to other moulding processes.

Extrusion is the process of applying heat and pressure to melt plastic polymers such as polyethylene, PVC and ABS to name a few. Once heated to a homogenous melt, the polymer is forced through a die to produce continuous shapes of the profile or pipe that is required.

There are many shapes that can be produced by extrusion and the dimensions of these shapes are dictated by the size of the die which is the shaping tool that's bolted onto the front of the extruder machine.
